How to Setup VPn Connection on iPod Touch

How to Setup VPn Connection on iPod Touch - Setting up your VPN with your iPhone/iPod Touch
Setting up PublicVPN access with the iPhone/iPod Touch is simple. The following instructions go step–by–step through the creation process.

System Requirements

You'll need iPhone/iPod Touch 1.x or 2.x. These pictures are for Firmware 2.x, but everything is the same with the 1.x firmware.

Open Settings

First, open the iPhone/iPod Touch Settings.

Open General

Next, open the General Settings.

Touch Network

Open the Network settings

Touch VPN

Configure a VPN by touching the VPN button. If you don't have a VPN configured, you'll see "Not Configured." When you touch the VPN button, you'll start creating a new connection. See the picture on the left.
If your screen looks like the one on the left, touch the VPN button and skip to "Setup VPN"
If your screen looks like the one on the right, touch the VPN button and continue.

Add Configuration

Configure a new VPN connection by clicking "Add VPN Configuration..." as seen below.

Setup VPN

You should see the VPN information page. Fill out the field as they look below.

In the Description field, type "PublicVPN L2TP"
In the Server field, type "gateway.publicvpn.net"
In the Account field, type your PublicVPN.com username
In the Password field, type your PublicVPN.com password
In the Secret field, type 'publicvpn.net' (without the quotes)
Make sure that "Send All Traffic" is "ON". Then touch "Save"

Setup PPTP

While you don't need to, we recommend that you have both an L2TP/IPsec configuration and a PPTP configuration set up. In some locations one protocol works and not another, so it's good to have both of them. To configure your PPTP configuration, click "Add VPN Configuration" and touch the "PPTP" tab.

In the Description field, type "PublicVPN PPTP"
In the Server field, type "gateway.publicvpn.net"
In the Account field, type your PublicVPN.com username
In the Password field, type your PublicVPN.com password
Make sure that "Send All Traffic" is "ON" and that the "Encrpyption Level" is "Auto". Then touch "Save"

Connecting to the VPN

When you want to connect to the VPN, Click Settings, VPN, select the VPN that you want to connect to, then turn the VPN on. That should be it!
